Inaugurata formalmente il 14 ottobre 2000, l’Accademia di Musica è ospitata nei locali posti al piano nobile
dell'antica Scuola Militare di Cavalleria di Pinerolo.
L’intento principale dell’Accademia di Musica è quello di promuovere e valorizzare la cultura musicale,
sia attraverso un’intensa attività didattica, sia attraverso una ricca stagione concertistica.
Al centro della politica didattica dell’Associazione vi è la valorizzazione di giovani musicisti e della loro opera.
Ogni anno vengono organizzati corsi di perfezionamento, masterclasses, conferenze con concertisti,
docenti e noti personaggi del campo musicale.
L’Accademia organizza inoltre incontri con le scuole del territorio
al fine di migliorare la conoscenza della musica nei ragazzi.
La stagione concertistica prevede non solo concerti del repertorio classico, ma anche festivals, serate a tema,
conferenze-concerto e manifestazioni musicali che intrecciano il classico col moderno.
Di fondamentale importanza per l’Accademia e per tutto il panorama musicale italiano e non solo,
è il Concorso Internazionale di Musica "Città di Pinerolo", a cadenza annuale, in cui si alternano le sezioni pianoforte e musica da camera.
Ad ogni edizione cresce il numero ed il valore dei partecipanti,
dato che testimonia il prestigio del Concorso stesso.
The Academy of Music was founded in 2000.
It occupies some premises of the building that housed the historical Scuola Militare di
Cavalleria (Cavalry Military School) of Pinerolo.
The mission of the Academy is to promote and increase the value of musical culture,
both through an intense didactic activity and through a rich concert season.
At the centre of the didactic policy of the Academy there is the evaluation of the skills of young musicians,
in order to prepare them for a successful career in music.
The school organizes every year improvement courses (also in summertime), masterclasses and meetings with famous musicians,
teachers or people inside the music world.
The Academy organizes also meetings with the students of the schools of
Pinerolo and surroundings, with the object of improving musical knowledge in the youth.
The concert season consists not only of classical concerts, but also of festivals, concert-lectures and musical events
in which modern and classic are combined.
The most important event of the Academy is the Concorso Internazionale di Musica "Città di Pinerolo" (International Music Competition).
It takes place every year at the beginning of March, and it alternates the edition for piano with that for chamber music.
Every edition sees a larger number of participants and a better quality of the executions,
fact that testifies the rising prestige of the Contest.
